Here at Chunky Monkey Studios we specialize in providing puppeteering content made by worldwide artists. We partner with the best Puppeteers, Puppet Makers, Voice Actors, Writers, Videographers, and Content Creators in the business to create the best content possible. Our highly talented and experienced teams are bringing to life some of the most unique, fun, and whimsical characters our imaginations can come up with.

Our mission is to not only bring entertainment, but also awareness to important world topics. Our content will dive into different cultures, social problems, disabilities, and environmental issues. we support many charities, along with individual activists and activist groups.

Lafayette The Bard

A druid who was the apprentice to Emry's. He uses his magic to take his audience all over the world, to far away lands you have only seen in your dreams. One of Lafayette's greatest powers is he can take you through time to any time in history, ancient Egypt, the time of the Dinosaurs, you name it he has been there and will take you with him. He will introduce you to legendary figures, ancient mystical beings, magical creatures, ghosts, and aliens. His mission is to pass on as much of his wisdom and knowledge as his magic will allow him.

Chunky

A mischievous monkey that lives in the forest surrounding the Library Of Light. He is always very curious as to what Lafayette is up to. He loves to explore the library. However, he tends to get himself into trouble due to his mischievous and curious nature. He opens magical books, touches spells, steals Lafayette's staff, interferes with what Lafayette is doing on a daily baises. Lafayette is always getting Chunky out of trouble.

What is a puppet slam? It is an evening of curated short-form puppetry acts intended for adult audiences.

The Puppet Slam Network, spearheaded by IBEX Puppetry (now Green Feather Foundation) and Heather Henson in 2005, fosters growth and diversity in puppetry through grant opportunities and community building.

Chunky Monkey Studios Puppet Slams

Chunky Monkey Studios is developing our own unique live performance Puppet Slam.

We are hard at work with live show Producers, Directors, Talent Scouts, Writers, Comedians, Circus Performers, Actors, Dancers, and many other creative people to create one of the most unique live performances with puppets ever developed. These shows are planned to be held live in South Lake Tahoe and Los Angeles, along with an online Puppet Slam which will be very unique and one a kind.

These are all in development, with no set date for these shows. Updates will be made as production gets closer to completed, and a date is set for the performances. Follow us for more updates, or reach out to us and we will be happy to let you know how production is going on our Puppet Slams.

One On One Coaching

We recommend studying our free puppeteering lessons on our YouTube channel, and on Instagram first. These videos will teach you the basics to get you started. If after practicing these skills, you want to delve even deeper into the world of not only puppeteering but the film industry then coaching is for you

Our Puppeteers, Directors, Voice Actors, Camera Crews are here to help you and will work with you one on one. You will get a deep dive into film sets, equipment, film and television puppeteering, voice acting

What do we work on in coaching?

Typical subjects covered are

This will be a deep dive into the world of Puppeteering

Meditation and relaxation training, which is important for working long hours on movie and television sets

Exercises that help build specific muscles in the arms and hands that are key in Puppeteering. You must keep your arm above your head for long periods. Puppeteers also open and close their hand thousands of times

Ambidexterity training, to use both your left and right hand equally which puts you at the top of your craft. Imagine being able to operate a puppet just as good with your left hand as with your right hand. This skill comes in handy on a film set

How movie and television sets operate. You will get a virtual tour of some of our sets. Learning how lighting, green screens, camera equipment, and lavalier microphones work. You will be able to ask questions, and get a grasp for entering the movie and television industry. You will be working with more than one of our artists over the course of your coaching

You will work with our Puppeteers, Directors, Camera Operators, Voice Actors, Comedians, Set and Character Designers. The artists you will be working with have graduated from Colleges such as The Los Angeles Film School, California Institute of The Arts, UCLA School Of Theater and Television

We're Hiring!

Join Our Studio

We're hiring for both our online content, and our live shows.

If you live in the Los Angeles Area, or close to South Lake Tahoe you can apply to work with us at our filming locations for our online show. Or, if you want to be apart of our upcoming Puppet Slams you can apply here.

We are also hiring Puppeteers, Voice Actors, Bloggers, Writers, that do not live near these locations. You can work virtually and create content for us at your home. If you are a Puppeteer applying to work with us virtually, you will need a green screen to work with us.

The pay varies depending on your job, and if you are working virtually or in person. It will range from $25 an hour up to $100 an hour depending on your job. Voice actors are paid per word, $200 per 500 words. A script usually is between 1000 and 3000 words for our voice actors.
